Giclee art prints from American museums
I’m confirming the claims that some museums have giclee art prints of selections from their collections.
The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, even offers giclee prints of many of its most popular pieces as giclee prints. They don’t call them giclee prints, they call them “Archival Replicas“. You can browse the MFA website for more details and to sample the art works they will reproduce for your – either on paper or canvas – in various sizes. The largest they quote, 24” by 30”, retails for $500 and smaller reproductions are proportionately less. If you want canvas substrates, they’re a little more.
One reason for shopping with museums is reputation. Not the sources like art.com aren’t creditable; but shopping in an on-line museum shop provides an as well as a measure of pride.
I’ll lead you to other museums with giclee reproductions in future posts.
